This day is the birthday of Dr. James Parkinson, the discoverer of Parkinson's disease and a British surgeon. Parkinson's disease (PD), also commonly known as "tremor paralysis", is a common neurological disorder that mainly affects middle-aged and elderly people. It often occurs after the age of 60 and is the "third killer" of middle-aged and elderly people. Its symptoms include involuntary tremors in the hands, head, or mouth when at rest, muscle rigidity, slow movement, and postural balance disorders, leading to the inability to take care of oneself.
In the past, due to a lack of knowledge, many Parkinson's disease patients missed the opportunity to lead a normal life! In fact, with proper diagnosis and treatment, most Parkinson's disease patients can lead a normal life. The theme of this year's Parkinson's Day is "Harmonious Coexistence, Better Life".
