【健康日历】6月21日 世界渐冻人日

"Freezing man's disease" (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ALS) is a rare disease, but it is one of the five major incurable diseases listed by the World Health Organization, as well as cancer and AIDS. Due to a lack of understanding, many "gradually frozen people" are in a "lone battle" position and cannot receive timely and correct diagnosis and treatment.

Gradual freezing "is a common term for a group of motor neuron diseases, characterized by gradual muscle atrophy and weakness, leading to paralysis, as if the body is gradually frozen. Therefore, it is commonly known as" gradual freezing ". Since the sensory nerves have not been invaded, this disease does not affect the patient's intelligence, memory, or sensation. Stephen Hawking, a well-known master of theoretical physics and a giant of science, is a 'frozen man'.

In 1997, the International Alliance of the "ALS" Association selected June 21st every year to hold various activities related to the understanding of motor neuron diseases, hoping that on this day every year, the treatment and social care for this terrible disease could attract universal attention from the world. According to conservative estimates, there are currently at least 50000 patients with motor neuron disease in China.
